Test Scores Tell the Story
In conjunction with the prestigious University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Center for Literacy and National-Louis University, the DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) oral reading frequency assessment is used to evaluate the Sit Stay Read school programs.
For three years now DIBELS results continue to show a statistically significant difference between second grade classes with a Sit Stay Read program and those without.
Average for Sit Stay Read Classes:
increase of 43 words per minute!
Average for Comparison Classes:
increase of 35 words per minute
That's a 20% greater improvement for our kids!
Program evaluations are on-going to ensure that Sit Stay Read continues to provide programs with maximum impact.
In addition, Dr. Corinne Smith published her dissertation on the many benefits of the Sit Stay Read program in 2009! Her work explores the effect on reading fluency, learning engagement, and the psychological impact on children.
