We make reading FUN!
OUR MISSION
SitStayRead improves literacy skills and fosters a love of learning in at-risk children.
Founded in 2003, SitStayRead improves reading fluency, makes reading fun, and inspires children to become lifelong readers. Using a curriculum designed with the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Center for Literacy, trained volunteers and certified dog teams bring much needed reading help to children, ages 7-9, in Chicago inner-city schools and community facilities.
Dogs enable us to tackle the serious issue of childhood literacy in a fun way, and test score results prove Sit Stay Read improves reading fluency!
The Petco Foundation has awarded SitStayRead a $10,000 grant for our School Literacy Initative. Thank you Petco Foundation!
